Great job and great documentation. Book marking for the next time I have to do this and feel panicky

Having the reefer to tear down and move two weeks prior was a great dry run so to speak. I keep all of the tools I needed together, helped me remember the process then tweak the big tank move accordingly.Great job and great documentation. Book marking for the next time I have to do this and feel panicky
Looking good B... oh the tank is to...
No really the setup is slick. Glad to see all your plumbing and other meticulous details come together. I'll have some things to send your way soon... keep your eyes out for a shipping notification...
Thank you sir. The top left rock on the end shot still needs rotated imo to give a better look from the end, but I am quite pleased!Love the scape and love the end shot with the sponge and gorg, great work.
Great write up my bro! Quite the accomplishment. Tank is popping all out of control.Ok so better a few weeks late than ever.
Maybe?
So let's start at the end.
I would consider this tank build out and move to be a Huge personal success.
I've moved tanks, but I've never designed a system from scratch, ordered custom, built the system (needing to learn a few new crafts), then into full implementation. Huge thanks to everyone for constant support and information, laughs and talking me off of ledges.
The move:
Knowing it would take twice as long as I wanted it to, I planned the tank move to start on a Saturday morning.
The work really started a few days prior. I had to mix a lot of saltwater and fresh. Without the ability to store how much I needed, I decided the tank needed to be the storage tank. I made 100g and pumped it to the tank with a small pump and heater.
Next was adding the sand I had accumulated over multiple tear downs. Washed, dried, and clean. Also used a quarter bottle of bac in here that I had laying in the fridge. I knew this wouldn't be everything so I stacked the sand where I intended to stack the rock piles.
Friday night, I pulled the sump and replaced it with a tote under the tank. Just pump and heater + foam in there. Everything else came out for a deep cleaning.
With the sump in it's location, I was able to run wires and hook up all non essential equipment, plus finish the drain plumbing.
Day of, my best friend and reefer got a positive Covid test back so I was in my own. I had a short list, that I wrote every step on, in no particular order . This was instrumental.
At Go time, I moved heater up to the display and sucked off as much water as I wanted to transfer + enough for the temporary coral holding /iodine bath. I used a 100qt cooler with a heater and pump as well.
All loose coral and coral that could detach from the scape was transferred into the cooler. It fit well. I waited until half an hour before I was ready to start adding corals to add a heavy iodine dose.
Now to move in about 75 lbs of choice rock I have had cycling for months out of other tanks, in darkness being fed by my wc water. Then start bringing rock work down.
Now corals and show rocks.
One thing at a time
Then once lights went out for the night, 120 fish, QT tangs + Reefer Hippo all dropped in at one time.
I've done some tweaking but no real major changes since day one.
I lost two coral. My big stunner and a cyphastrea. I'm not heartbroken.
Here we are today.

Thanks Soren!Excellent process, documentation, and final result, @Lost in the Sauce !
This is motivating me to get a notebook this very evening and start documenting my build process and steps to completion...
After my own research, I feel that your tank is on the safe side of the border with the tang police (tank is big enough), though only time will tell as they grow.
I'm a list guy, too, if I don't procrastinate making the list! Thanks Soren!
I'm list people. I'm also Lost people, but I'm definitely List making/writing things down people.
The Tang police don't scare me at all. And I originally had two more in there But had to change plans to fit personalities. Anybody got a 3" White Cheek they don't need
Straight up, I was Way out over my skis in many parts of this build. The only thing I was comfortable with from the git go was the actual tank transfer day as silly as that sounds.I'm a list guy, too, if I don't procrastinate making the list!
...and, even when I think I am learning something, I still feel lost, also! "The wisest man is the man who understands that he understands nothing!" This keeps the desire to continue learning ever-strong.
White Cheek or Goldrim are probably my favorite Acanthurus tangs, though I may not ever have one due to liking purple tangs and all the foxfaces better.
You just don't like purple tangs, or you had a bad experience with one?Straight up, I was Way out over my skis in many parts of this build. The only thing I was comfortable with from the git go was the actual tank transfer day as silly as that sounds.
That uncomfortable feeling is a huge driver of self improvement. I hope I never lose it.

I got your six on the tang police. They tried to come after me, but you know…..Thanks Soren!

I owned one long established in the 120 when I bought it. It never played nice with others no matter what or how big. Killed my first mandarin female within 2 minutes of introduction. So fast I couldn't get to either. You just don't like purple tangs, or you had a bad experience with one?
Since I think they are quite beautiful, I am still pleased that a purple tang came with my tank when I got it from my co-worker (though it is in a 75-gallon FOWLR right now and is about 4-4.5 inches long!). Mine has not had much opportunity yet to show aggression due to limited other fishes in the tank, but it may when I get my 125-125 setup going. It is last on my plan for introduction into the tank, as I hope to let the foxfaces and Tomini tang get established first. If there is aggression, the purple is going to my basement 90-gallon FOWLR or to the LFS for a trade-in. (Then I would be glad for the price on these fish right now!)
HA, I would pay to have seen that!!I got your six on the tang police. They tried to come after me, but you know…..
I prefer "natural" lighting with more white light (though it does encourage algae/cyanobacteria) over blue lighting, so that makes sense why I like the looks better.I owned one long established in the 120 when I bought it. Another issue I have with them is they don't appear well under my lights. I run Red Sea Reef LEDs and the fish kind of disappears.
