Hey guys, I'm brand new to saltwater. I waited 3 months for corals. I had the lights on for about a week and then brown algae hit. I'm not sure if it's diatoms or dinos. It's looking a little stringy up close. I was not going to post for help but today I noticed one of the zoa frags has algae on. I'm not sure how dangerous this is for it. I also noticed some of my rocks there's what appears to be a bubble tip on the end of the strings. I've grazed across post recently about bubble algae, I'm not sure if that's what it is. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Hydra 26. I used the brs recommendations but I put on acclimation mode and started at 20%. I put them on from 1pm-11pm. But 4 hours of that it's ramp time. I'm cutting them down to 6hrs.

I guess I had only 50% on acclimation. I just shortened the to 3pm-9pm without hour ramp on each side (3-4 and 8-9) and put acclimation on 35%.

They are. I had cool white on 10% or something like that but I turned them off also.

Unless you're starting with real live rock. Not live as in its cycled with a bottle of bacteria, but real live rock with a multitude of critters and algae on it, what you're getting is going to happen every single time. There are some - mostly those that watch BRS videos - that like to run things for months without lights to avoid algae. When they turn their light on - BAM! just leave the lights on and get through the inevitable ugly stage IMO.

I appreciate the replies guys. I'm jut gonna power through it. I guess it's time for CuC. Is there anything else I should do besides keeping the glass clean?
