Anyone know any really unique or odd looking fish that would be ok in a 30g reef tank?

The problem with unique or odd is that they are usually hard fish to keep in aquarium, thats why they are not that common.
Also, 30 gallon will really limit your fish selection
Here is my best suggestion

You can go with designer clownfish

they are still relatively easy to take care of.
Another easy fish is fire fish, some come in beautiful colors.
You might try the mandarin dragonette, although you will need to supply it with copepods, and 30 gallon is small to maintain a good population.
You can try sea horses, also difficult fish to take care of.
