Finally found the deal I've been looking for and snagged this 180 gallon acrylic for an amazing price locally. Tank is covered in coralline but I will be cleaning it up with muriatic acid and then buffing out any scratches.

Tank has duel overflows, and will be housing my koran angel, cream angel, sohal tang, saddleback clowns, and various other fish I will be adding along the way. We plan on upgrading this again as these fish grow, but this will last these guys a while. Corals will consist of whatever the fish don't eat. No cuc as these fish will eat them.

Equipment will be 4' LED shoplights until we upgrade to Viparspectras, a 48x18x12 sump that will house a large refugium and eventually a skimmer (waiting to find a large used one for the right price), and a Jebao return pump. This tank is drilled so I can run a larger pump and use the extra returns instead of powerheads.

Pic of tank and future sump in current condition and some of the future inhabitants (currently in my 65 gallon).

Moved my sohal tang out of quarantine today and put him in with the cream and koran angel today in the 65 gallon. Put in a divider because he wanted to show them he owns the tank. Probably not letting them back in with each other until they get into the 180, and I'll try to have a few other tangs added at the same time.

Also grabbed this gorgeous little 4" broomtail wrasse from my LFS today and popped him into quarantine.

Just a couple fish pics from today. No real progress on the tank. Hopefully going to pick up some muriatic acid in the next week or 2 to get started on cleaning it up.

A few pics of the fish from this evening. Divider is in place in the 65 gallon holding these fish since the sohal likes to kill any new fish. He gets along with the angels now, but wanted to destroy the broomtail wrasse when I added him last night.

Picked up a few new fish today for this setup and got them into quarantine! Much smaller than some of the other fish get, but should be able to handle themselves just fine. Grabbed a blue devil damsel (Chrysiptera cyanea), a harlequin basslet (Serranus tigrinus), and a super fat and fiesty captive bred neon dottyback (Pseudochromis aldabraensis).

Horrible pics since they're in a quarantine that's on the floor.

Snapped a few pics of the fish in the 65 gallon holding tank while the 180 gets cleaned up. I had to remove the sohal, who is now in a 20 gallon long by himself since he wanted to kill everyone. I will try him as the last fish into the 180 once it is set up.

I have an awesome boss who I recently got back into the hobby. I've been putting in a lot of extra hours lately and really fixing things up at the store where I work, as well as helping him get a nano reef of his own running at his house after he's been out of the hobby around 8 years.

We both go to most of the fish stores in the area to check things out, and regularly chat about different fish and corals we've seen for sale.

Today, he showed up to work about 30 minutes before I was supposed to leave with this gorgeous 3" yellow belly hippo tang for me as a thank you gift for all my hard work and for helping him with his tank.

Obviously the tang is pretty spooked now in quarantine and has now wedged himself under the rock, but it looks pretty healthy, and has been at the store for a few months. Excited to get him in the 180 gallon once it's up and running. Water is also cloudy because I just did a 50% water change before putting him in here.

And this is why I quarantine and prophylactically treat. Already showing ich in the quarantine. Luckily, I had already started dosing cupramine Wednesday night.

Good news is, he is still eating like a champion and acting completely normal.

Forgot to mention I snagged this gorgeous male philippine blue devil damsel the other day. Hoping he pairs up with the female when he's done with quarantine.

Received an order from Petco.com today with 2 really nice fish in it for this system. One is a clown tang and the other a bicolor angel. The bicolor was supposed to be a lemonpeel, so they are sending me a replacement lemonpeel free of charge and told me to keep the bicolor. I popped them into the quarantine with the hippo tang and damsel, and they are doing amazingly well. Both are already eating frozen mysis and live caulerpa. The clown tang has a neat abberant pattern on both sides of its body.

The bicolor angel was randomly dead today. No marks of any kind and no signs of disease. Lemonpeel arrived last night, looks great! Here's a few quick videos of the fish waiting for me to get the tank up.

Grabbed a spawning pair of orange skunk clowns today for this setup. They will be added to the 180 gallon at the same time as the saddleback pair. I'm hoping they are different enough that they ignore each other, and that they settle down on opposite ends of the tank.

Fish in quarantine are doing pretty well. The clown tang has some ich, but the tank is currently being treated with cupramine, so it should go away soon enough. It was also pretty thin, and was not gaining weight after treatment with praziquantel, so it has now had over 1 week of metronidazole and is improving. It is gaining weight back and eating both frozen foods and live Caulerpa much more aggressively.

We also added a few other fish into quarantine for the 180 gallon, a yellow blotch rabbitfish (Siganus guttatus), an algae blenny (Salarias fasciatus) and a splendid dottyback (Pseudochromis splendens). Hoping they all do well and get along with the rest of the fish!

Here are a couple pics of the fish today. We did end up moving the aiptasia filefish from our 47 gallon in here because he decided he liked the taste of elegance coral. He's getting along just fine with the rest of the fish, even dives right in alongside the broomtail wrasse, rabbitfish, and the koran angel for his share of clam on the half shell. On another positive note, no aggression at all between any of the fish, even the brown saddleback clown pair and the orange skunk clown pair.
