Hi everyone! Seeing your build threads has inspired me to document my own tank’s journey.. I only wish I had started sooner lol.
I bought an established biocube a little over a year ago, and quickly decided I needed to build my own. I found a killer deal on this used reefer 170 on FB marketplace. Cleaned it up and got it running.
Used dry “live rock” from previous owner and after much debate settled on this aqua scape. (Floating islands were a later edition and the plan is to cover them with gsp)
Lighting: AI hydra 32 & and 4 T5 bulbs
Wave maker/pumps:
- 3 eFlux 660gph wave pumps (sides are at 40% pulse mode, back is at 10% constant)
- tbh I forgot what the pump is but I know the gph is way to high for my tank so I have it running at 10%
- have everything connected to a loop master controller so I can check everything from my phone
Sump:
- Red Sea skimmer
- Red Sea Reefmat 250
- innovative marine media reactor (I think an older, bigger model)
- basic 250w heater
The goal is to have a low maintenance mixed reef tank starting with some beginner corals and maybe down the road some more advanced ones. Thanks for looking!
