I'm not too sure. I believe one day I just googled "cool rare macro algae", or something like that lol, and looked through all the pictures/links that came up.
Must of been, all the post I can see are from my old uk account where someone suggested Meredithia as a possibility, I just couldn’t find a matching taxonomy.

Reached out to John Maloney for an ID and some crab advice. =)

I think that is Platoma ardreanum, it is considered a desirable macroalgae. You could grow it and trade it to people. There is also Ulva and Boergesenia or Valonia. I can't find a good image online of PLatoma when it is expressed like that for you to match it too, but I used to hunt this algae down when I thought I would grow it out.

Emeralds and Pithos are compatible with each other. They should take it out, I think Platoma has a chemical in it that makes it unpalatable to some herbivores. Fish at least, I am not sure if the crabs will eat it. I wouldn't doubt it, but I haven't had this come up before. It is supposed to be common in the wild (South Pacific) but it rarely shows up on liverock or in the hobby.

All the Best,
John Maloney

Growth update. Been a little over a month in the frag tank. Seems to have lost it's flouresence. Par is significantly more intense in the display. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

When it gets a little bigger, I'm going to tear off a small piece and place it back in the display.

That’s growing well, I think spectrum has a big influence on the crazy colour she gives.

This one is from the same family, it’s at the back of the tank can’t do a good focus but you can see it starting to colour up in the tips since it’s been in the new tank that is kept around 11k

Looking good! I can see the tips coloring up. What kind of lighting are you running?

Possibly a dragon’s breath macro? Whatever it is, it’s absolutely stunning! Great find!!

If you haven’t already, you should share some pictures to this thread!!
