So I have a Red Sea 425xl and a pair of MP 40s. I have plenty of flow I. The upper column to keep detritus afloat but the problem seems to be I can’t keep the sand bed free of detritus no matter how low I set them. What are other 425xl wonders running? I’m thinking of replacing g them with a pair of Red Sea reef wave 25s. Thoughts? Opinions? What do you run?

In my 3XL900 I have a pair of ReefWaves mounted vertically on each back corner with one side of each pump pointed to the back and the other end pointed towards the front. Works well.

A pair of ReefWav25's would work great - but you may still end up with some detritus on your sand bed. What all do you have for cleanup crew?
I’m still in the ugly stage. It’s a weird snot like substance that none of my cuc eats. I have 5 each asteria, ceriths, Nerite, zombie snails 1 red legged hermit

Try an orange lip or strawberry conch or two for the substrate. They make a noticeable difference.

I have a pair of tiger conches in there. I was thinking of picking up this though.

I got a pair of tiger conches in there already.
The strawberry and orange ones seem to focus on the sandbed specifically. It's something I might try first before adding more wavemakers. You can also add an airstone while you have the MP40s running to see if you have any dead spots with your flow.

Ive just got an mp10 for my 425xl. Was previously running x2 mp10s as that's what the store I bought my tank from recommended. I've had a cyano issue on one side of the tank that (fingers crossed) has gone with the addition of the mp10 & a 2 day black out.

I'm still getting a bit of detritus on the sandbed though was debating another mp40. Issue with that is i don't want x4 pumps sticking out the side of the tank & the back glass is too thick for the mp10s.

Where have you got the mp40s positioned? Mine is 3/4 the way up & just offset from the middle so the flow goes across the front of the tank. Only real bad spot is the opposite side underneath the mp10.
