Hi,
I've got a 75 gallon simplest reef tank that is almost a year old. I'm going through the uncontrollable hair algae phase and I recently took out about half the water to pull up as much hair algae as I could and noticed that I have what looks like fluorescent coraline allergy growing on my equipment and the top of my rocks. I noticed this came with some zoanthids I got from tidal gardens a while back but I assumed that it was maybe some sort of paint or plastic they used to mark corals. It is hot pink under regular room lights and with the blue lights on it's fluorescent pink. Much brighter than any of my corals at the moment.

I was just curious if anyone could tell me if this is actually Coraline algae? Or if this is an SPS? I've never seen fluorescent hot pink Coraline algae before and I was just curious.

I have been having issues with nutrients being elevated so that may be the issue. I have just never seen this before and wasn't sure if Coraline was normally fluorescent. Thank you all for the replies

Coralline. When it dies it fluoresces. I will say though that a coral shoP IN FL is growing an orange variety and it does sometimes appear randomly on live rock. I’ve got a hermit with a shell covered in bright orange coralline. There’s also a dark red variety. No pics of my hermit but there’s the red kind.
