Hi everyone, this is my first tank, the Fluval Evo 13.5, and was set up in May 2020. I plan on keeping this tank primarily as a softie tank, though I may venture into LPS as I get more experience.

I am super excited to see where this first build leads me! Having a saltwater tank has been a bucket list item for the longest time and it is amazing to finally be able to get one rolling. They are incredible!

Anyway, here is what I am currently running:

Livestock:

1x Black ocellaris clown

1x ocellaris clown

1X cleaner shrimp

1x Leather Coral

2x heads of Xenia (I bought one initially and it already split)

1x GSP

2x head of neon green clove polyps

2X Ricordea (one green, one yellow)

Equipment: Sicce Syncra .5, Kessil A80, D-flow designs filtration baskets in chambers 1 and 2, and d-flow designs RFGs.

Media: Chemi pure elite, filter floss, filter sponge, activated carbon

I will do more posts detailing my journey thus far, but for now, pictures!

Having a bit of a cyanobacteria outbreak but it is diminishing now with a better light schedule and less fish feeding.

That scape is going to look cool when it’s covered in coral.

Hi,

Thanks! The only issue I am running into is there is some shadowing under the overhangs, so I have to be careful where I place the coral and what coral I place there. Surprisingly, my Ricordea really like it under the overhang so I may add more of them as I love their look and coloration.

Update: My cyano problem is almost completely gone! Score! Though I do need a sand sifting fish I'm thinking.

How is the A80 working out for ya?
It's doing great for the soft coral. The Xenia, GSP, and clove polyps have really taken off. I made a mistake with adding too much flow which stifled the clove polyps and my ricordea's growth a bit. But that has since been resolved and the corals are happy again. My leather coral is becoming huge! I added a frogspawn and it seems to be doing well under the A80 as well.

Spread is a bit of a concern however as, because of my rockwork shape, I do have some shadowed areas that do not get much light. The light does look amazing though. Really great Kessil shimmer.

Oh and I also have Zooanthids which are growing nicely
