I feed 2-3x per week. I use
Grazer block. This was last night:

I love the grazers! They hold a lot and I like not having to put my hands in the tank. I use those in my display and the cheap suction cup clips for my quarantine tanks. Those are some gorgeous tangs, btw!

I feed nori every other day. For my display I use the gourmet grazer magnet.

For my quarantine and holding tanks I use cheap suction cup clips from Amazon. Every fish in the quarantine tanks has his own clip and ziplock of small nori strips. (Yeah I’m a tad paranoid about cross contamination lol)
To supplement with Selcon, vitamins or medications I roll each little strip of nori like a cigar and put a few drops into the end of it. Then I fold the “cigar” in half and seal the loose ends with the clip.

I use an algae clip, and have some dental floss tied to it and on the end a pencil. I dangle the clip in the water, so the nori is suspended. the pencil keeps it from falling all the way down into the tank.

I have a nylon thread attached to the hood (the nylon thread lasts for months) that is attached to a clip that Is suspended below the surface. That way my hand never enters the tank for feedings nori. The clip handle hangs on another hook on the hood between use.

I'm glad I asked about how frequently everyone is feeding nori. I've been feeding daily but it seems like everyone is doing 3x/wk or every other day.

1 4”x4” sheet rolled up and rubber banded to a small rock hanging from a cord. I had a real urgent occurrence lately that most would say impossible, but it happened with a loose rubber band in the tank. I posted the occurrence here on R2R, and we had our laughs. My fish was caught and freed without harm. Now, I remove the rock and rubber band when small piece is left underneath. I’ve used the clips but they are able to pull it off.

Wow, it’s the incredibly rare one strip purple tang! How much did that set you back!?!

Over the years I have seen many variations to how people feed their fish algae sheets or Nori. I've seen people rubber band it to rocks, cut it in strips and hang it from algae clips, lay it on a powerhead and many other ways. Today let's talk about how you do it!

1. How do you feed your fish Nori or algae sheets?

2. How often do you feed Nori to your fish?

I feed my fish nori daily as I have herbivores in my tank. I use a magnetic glass clip as I can slide it to the top, clip the nori, then slide it back down with the least amount of my body touching the water.

I said other because my clip hangs from my light hood by a chain of zip ties blown about by a circulation pump.

I use a magnetic clip. I fold the nori into a smaller "stack" of sheets and put it in the clip. This makes it so the fish are unable to remove big sheets and let it float around. I basically ALWAYS have nori on the clip. I leave the clip in all day and take it out at night. If the clip is empty, I put a new piece in.
Question from a newbie: do you worry about over feeding or the tangs not eating algae off the rocks?

Small sheets of plastic webbing from craft shop, melted together on the margins with one end open and attached to dead rock with CA glue. Dropped on substrate or wedged in rockwork.

2. How often do you feed Nori to your fish?

I am currently fishless in my new system. But the Emerald and Hermit Crabs join the Snails, Peppermint Shrimp and occasional Bristleworm at the feeders about once a week for a treat. Hopefully the fish I eventually have will partake as well!

Feed my 2 tangs with an algae clip. I try to use rubber gloves to handle the nori when attaching to the 2 little fishes clip. Nickel size of nori each day on the clip in a 120 gallon system. Clown tang is 7 inches mouth to fin and yellow is about 5 inches mouth to fin.

I'm using the feeder below that I bought off eBay:

These feeders are custom made, so I got mine in Black. I've got two of the the commercially available blue ones sold here in the US, but I prefer using this one because I think the design is superior. The only downside is the shipping time needed to get your order to the US. Check out their website, they have a number of interesting reef related widgets available.

I put a large sheet of nori in mine, and my Purple Tang and Moorish Idol finish it off in two days with the help of a dozen asterinas.

I have used many of the solutions in the poll. Similar to others’ experiences, all of these left algae chunks decaying in places I didn’t want it. Now, I use Julian Sprung’s pouch feeder, found here: Two Little Fishies Pouch Feeder

The pouches hold all the algae firm enough to prevent flow from scattering it, but gently enough for a tiny blue tang to eat from it. And the best part, no more hands in the water, just use the magnet to slide it around from outside the tank.

I get my nori in bulk, like 100 large sheets for $10, at the local H-Mart. I feed whenever I notice that the clips are empty. Typically one sheet a day, or every other day, split between the two feeding spots. Plus a sheet for the dog who has decided that if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for him.

I use the Auqa Gadget Gourmet Grazer. I switched to that from the clips as my Yellow Tang would simply tear it away from the clip and let in go to get sucked against the overflow.
I feed half a sheet a day. My Foxface always comes up to grab the bits that get come out of the Grazer when I open it.
