For a SPS "Dream Tank", what is a better tank layout...wider or taller?

I say both! My tank is 70”x 26”x 25” tall. I would go a bit deeper and taller if I built another tank but not to exceed 30” either way.

Like others have said. Too deep will begin to grind on you maintenance wise. I think they can look great but not worth it for me personally as I like things pristine.

My next tank will be 30-36 wide whatever length fits where I’m putting it and 24 high. I’ve had 30” tall tanks and it requires allot of skill with a pick stick for regular Maintenece or gluing fragging corals. You can go lower with the aquascape and still have big colonies in a 24” high

As we are talking specifically to SPS, I would go deeper than I would higher. most SPS are light loving (assuming we are talking sticks here) and do better in the upper half of the tank anyway. the taller the tank, the more wasted space below it. Obviously there are some lower light sticks. but.. I am guessing the lower reaches might be better suited to plating and encrusting types. But I love the look of the deepr tank. My dream is either the 30 inch deep fatboy 150 or the 36 inche deep fatboy 180

I have a 5ft long by 24 wide by 30 tall and will be moving into a 6lx30wx24 tall. The maintenance on 30 deep is a pain. That's just my experience

Meh, who needs a garage for cars... ;) It can be the garage for the dream tank.
Very true- here’s my 3rd car garage turn tanked room! Ha!

The best view of my SPS is the frontal view of my 72x22x36 display peninsula!

I was curious of the forums opinion on what looks better for a SPS tank.

Would a 30" wide by 30" tall peninsula tank look better with wall to wall sps or would a 48" wide by 24" tall look better?

Length would be around 6 to 10 feet.

Random opinions are welcomed, along with any cool pictures!
Im kinda leaning towards wide
