on the top pic right, the half of the scape is one live rock. its now twisted around slightly to the left so it will fit, and about 80% brain coral covered. it became a coral over time.

Are you saying the time elapsed is 13 years?

hey they're so fun I never could bother to upgrade lol the big tanks cost too much. these will run nearly any coral you want but no fish, so I get to watch my fav fish swim around in others tanks by proxy lol
one benefit of these, specifically over large tanks, is my salinity is more stable without using any form of topoff automation than any tank on this whole site. I have to add topoff water once or twice weekly, if on vaca and we turn the air input down, it'll run ten days shifting only .023 to .025 which when done slowly is not bad at all. we use evaporation control to prevent topoff daily/3x daily etc
even though they're small, they're secretly bulletproof stable due to not having fail points. air stone, heater, lid, vase. its fail point is an errant nerf football/banned from living room

the systems will run indefinitely if they're not hardware-error killed. They have no biological lifespan limit, they don't get invaded with algae and corals have to be routinely cut out to make room/fragged. the only testing for the system is salinity and temp, no other params have to be measured, use any brand of water you want. even the chemisty has failsafes built in the approach...weekly water changes. ok pico rant off lol

May 28 2018 to June 7 2018... this was a move into a new 500g 6’x 5’ tank from 3x 120g tanks that ‘temporarily’ held my livestock for over a year while I awaited my new tank and home repairs ... my 450g had split a seam and did a lot of damage to my basement floors and walls.

Here are two photos from my 187g (60"x30"x24") system. First picture was taken 4 months after adding water. Second was almost exactly one year later.
