Hey guys. Wanted to share what I did for placement of my pentair 40W UV on my waterbox 130.4 tank. It’s a huge unit and does not fit under the stand. It looks horrible on top of the tank. So I mounted it vertically in a tall side cabinet and plumbed it to the sump. It’s worked out perfect and it hides everything!! I also included unions and a drain at the bottom of the UV for easy maintenance. I purchased this tall white side closet on sale on Amazon for about 100$. It’s well made and it’s actually a great utility closet for extra Reefing supplies (able to put in 2 shelves up top). Matches the cabinet and also my electronics cabinet. Tank is still in the ugly phase, slowly growing coralline at this point! Acros are happy. So if you have the space next to the tank , id consider doing this, as it seems like size of these UVs is the limiting factor when it comes to purchasing one!!

Smart move! I have two coming, one for each 150 gallon tank I’m putting together, and I can tell they are monster-size. Your photo really shows just how big (lol).

They are huge. If they won’t fit under your cabinet i recommend getting a tall white side cabinet like the one above. Drill holes in the back and plumb to tank. Add unions to make it easier. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Tank has never been more clear.

Don't hide that thing. Show it off. Make sure it is in every pic of the tank. That is not a cheapo junk piece of equipment made to be lurking in the shadows.

NICE mount!

I’m looking for mounting hardware next. May consider those black rubber bunge-cord like ones because I’ll likely have to mount from the inner side wall of the cabinet. Vertically, with it filled up, it is very sturdy, especially with the input/outputs being stabilized through the back wall of the cabinet. But when it’s empty it’s not stable.
