I cleaned my fuge yesterday and last night while I had my fuge light on I looked in it with a magnifying glass and found three mysid shrimp in there. They arrived I am sure from a bag of stuff I bought two months ago to add to the fuge. I figured they had all died off because I never saw one again and on an earlier post people said they don't breed in a reef tank. Could they be breeding? I only saw three, two larger ones and a small one. I looked and looked but only saw those three but I can only see the return chamber of the fuge.

Bonus, I was worried I decimated my pods but there are still a ton of them in there doing their thing. I may ready for that mandarin soon!!

Yes, they can be quite hardy and difficult for fish to eradicate :)

I have several in my display tank that only come out at night. I can only see them if I happen upon them with a flashlight sometime after the main lights go off.

Cheers to a healthy tank!

Mysid shrimp absolutely will breed in a reef tank.

I have a bunch living in my chaeto basket in my sump. I suspect some of mine might come from my frozen food I use. Some say they can survive freezing or it is possible it is the eggs hatching.

I am seeing a lot more now, too many to count. I hope they can get into the DT through the bubble trap and be a food source.

Where did you all get yours? I’ve been looking for some for a while.
I went to a LFS and asked for some amphipods and they have traps set in their tanks and sold me the stuff in the traps for 5 bucks and I got lucky and they were in the trap. It was risky cause I could have gotten something bad.
