One month into a DT fallow after some Brook, corals are recovering nicely after some brown and now green algae.

Found this growing next to my leather, no clue what it is, and it looks nothing like any other coral I have in the tank. Added a CuC from liveAquaria about a month ago as well. Can anyone ID?

leather coral?
I guess it could be, but it looks nothing like the current and only leather coral I have. That leather is my very first coral, about 5 years old. At one point my tank had a rough patch and it died out except for a little glob on the rock, and has since slowly grown back. Even in its little stage then, it looked nothing like this.

+1 it’s a super tiny toadstool. They look like little wooly balls when they first start growing.
Could this have hitch-hiked in on a snail? They’re the only additions for the past month, and my only leather coral (pictured), looks nothing like this.

Although they don't look like each other right now, I think the odds are it is from your toadstool. Toadstools reproduce by auto-fragmenting - dropping little pieces of themselves that grow into new ones.
Appreciate the info, I had no idea.

it’s a baby leather coral, sometimes bits will bud off and catch on near the parent. that’s what mine did. the corals are closed up right now so the image might be hard to see.

Can see the little thing in the background, it’s amazing they look so different from their parent coral.
