Is it a good idea to to have a frag setup in your sump in lieu of a refugium? So it would go like 1st chamber skimmer, 2nd propagation area, 3rd chamber return.

I know of people, including myself that grow frags in their sump. Mine are in the return chamber of my 60 gal sump.

I have kept them in my sump and also plumbed a 20G long off my return to make a frag tank. Just make sure to add some flow down there if needed.

It was on an older tank and I did not take pics. My 20g long sump was plumped to a 20g long frag tank in the same cabinet. The return was T'd to feed the frag tank then it gravity fed back to my sump. I kept a small PH to keep flow and a plexiglass piece with holes drilled in the middle to seperate the fuge and frag tank.

i use a 4 bulb deep blue t5 unit.
Anyone think a JBJ Unibody Dimmable 54 Watt 6500K-20000K LED Fixture would be a good choice to do LPS and SPS in a small AIO frag tank... like 6 inch deep... I would imagine it would be more than enough.... but I lack experience in LED.

Check the build threads with that light and look at what they are keeping. I saw some when I was researching the lighting for my 30G cube. It should keep LPS just fine and softies. It did not seem powerful enough to keep SPS.
