Hello all,

This is my first post on Reef2reef. Glad to be apart of the community. I have a biocube 32 frag grow out tank and my LFS is going to start hosting a frag swap twice a year. I'm looking for any recommendations for a frag tank to set up for the swaps. Budget is around $300. It would only get used 2 times a year. I would like something that is easy to transport/ carry but can hold up to 50 frags.

This is my plan so far:
Use 5g buckets with saltwater to fill
Use a heater in one bucket and power inverter while transporting
1 liter bottle Ato -
Build would have a kessil 160we - have it Temp controller and heater - have it
mj-1200 recirculation pump - have extra with surface agitation attachment
24 x 12 frag rack - make or purchase
Folding table - purchase

This tank on Amazon is 189.

Any recommendations or changes to this set up would be appreciated!

An easy tank would be a 40 breeder. You can get one on petco dollar days for <$60.
Make sure you have a media reactor with healthy bio media.
Locals use the small lifegaurd filter. I use the medium in my 80g and its a nice unit. It can be run inside the tank to reduce outside clutter.
A 40 breeder is 36x18x16.
If you want smaller the ones you posted will do fine.

I was thinking 10g just because. Transporting water for. 40 breeder would be a lot more cumbersome. Thanks for the tip on biomedia!

I have a 16x16x6 tank I take to swaps. It holds 5 gallons. I can easily put 70 frags in it, and most are euphyllia. I could honestly fit more frags but I space them out a little.
Do you have any info on the tank? A link would be appreciated.

I'll post a pic later. I got it a few years ago from a member here. He wanted to try making acrylic tanks so I sent him a message and he made and sent me the tank. I asked for his payment info multiple times but he never replied.

I have a 2 tier rack that fits in a 5 gallon bucket. It's made of egg crate. Frags that are on flat disks go on the bottom of the bucket and frags on plugs with stems go on the egg crate. I'll try to get a pic of my full set-up tomorrow.

Something very simple like this works too:

This is what I used to use - I liked them because they had a sealed lid. I superglued double stacked egg crate to the bottom, and eventually made a 2nd one.

I hate carrying glass around so I went with plastic.

Nice size for portability. Where did you get it? Is it an all in one, or just a tank?
