Save the date. Saturday March 26th at 2:00 PM. Gary Parr will be giving a photography work shop at Reefs Aquatics in Green Bay Wi.

Reef2Reefers already know Gary is one of the best coral photographers in the midwest, if not the country. The Alternative Reef and Reefs Aquatics are proud to bring him to Northwest Wisconsin to share his secrets to amazing photo's. He'll also be there after to give you little tips and pointers after the show. So bring your cameras and prepare to take lots of pictures.

You might ask yourself......OK how much is this gonna cost me. The answer is zip, zero, nada. Reefs and The Alternative Reef have been talking for some time about doing something special for the area reefers for awhile now. We have decided on small little workshops designed to enhance your reefkeeping experience. We plan to do something like this either semi annually or quarterly if it is well recieved. This is our way of giving back.

Now Reefs is a small place. We ask that you stop in and or give them a call to let them know you are planning on going. It would be nice to have an idea of how big this will be. If a lot of people respond we will try to have the workshop in the vacant store next door to give us more room. I will post the address and phone number later. They are closed on mondays.

Hope to see you there.

Scott

Here is a little write up Gary has provided for us.

How¹d You Shoot That?
Your reef is thriving, the colors are beautiful, and you want some photos to
share the fruits of your labor with friends and family. You break out the
camera, fire off a few shots, and end up with blue, blurred, and distorted
photos, half of which are ruined when the light from your flash unit
reflected off of the aquarium glass. Frustration sets in and you ask the
inevitable question: How do I get decent shots of my reef?

"How¹d You Shoot That?" will show you what equipment you need and don't
need, how to get the proper exposure, and what makes for good photo
composition. You'll also learn how to photograph fish, get quality full-tank
shots, and shoot corals, all of the way down to the feeding tentacles.

³How¹d You Shoot That?² is presented by Gary Parr, a self-taught
advanced-amateur photographer who "specializes" in close-up/macro
photography of corals, flowers, and insects. To see some of his photography,
browse the galleries at PmWiki | Main / Welcome to gparr.com Gary has been keeping reef aquariums
for more than 10 years and is co-founder, with Sara Bertolino, of Reef
Threads, a weekly podcast/website at Reef Threads.

I should have stated that this is open to the public, Anyone can attend. You do not need to be a paid member of any group to attend. It is free. FVRC members are of course invited and encouraged to attend.

We want to be able to do these more than once or twice a year. But you need to show up for these to be succesful. When I was a member of WRS we had guest speakers numerous times. It was great and we learned a lot.
