I would like to try it out on my 150tall. As you can see I’m battling cyano which leads me to believe that my skimmer is not up to par.

I would be interested in testing and reviewing for you. I have a 125 and had to make a few modifications to the dump to fit a Reef Octopus in there. It’s quite tight to move and clean.

Everything in the box:

Assembly was very straight forward. I'm sure everyone knows how a skimmer is put together, but if not, instructions are clear and easy to follow. Picture of the IOAOI next to my Simplicity Skimmer. Slightly taller in height and footprint is a tad larger due to the pump being connected on the outside of the body (which I prefer for easy maintenance!).

Controller is slim and sleek. Only gripe is I would have preferred both leads to come out from the bottom like the Simplicity controller since I like it mounted out in the open for display. This shouldn't bother most though.
I'd also like to point out that this thing has 10 levels and can only be adjusted upwards, there's no downward option. Only way to drop levels is to go past 10 and have it reset back to 1 allowing you to cycle through the levels again. Not a problem once it's fine tuned.

Adjusting this thing is a breeze. The big knob controls the water level and the screw on top of the silencer controls the airflow. Much easier than the Simplicity skimmer since everything turns freely and both adjustments are close to each other. Fits perfectly in my Trigger Systems Emerald 26 sump.

I did have a question for you @IOAOI, is the water level tube supposed to be that loose? I have to hold the tube in place so it doesn't spin the silencer with it as I turn the knob.


First impressions: Everything was packaged very nicely and securely and the build quality on this skimmer is top notch and comparable to many big name brands I've used in the past. Pump is dead silent and controller is easy to navigate.

Dislikes: I'm just looking for something to nitpick at, but a few things that bother me.
-First, as I mentioned above, I wish the wires for both leads on the controller came out from the bottom. This thing mounted on display is an eyesore lol.
-Second is the AC power cord that comes with the power supply is too short - 24" long. Easily remedied since I have a bunch of these laying around the house, but depending on where you place the controller, you might need a longer cord.
-Last, the water level tube spins too freely. When adjusting the water level, you have to hold the tube and then turn the knob to prevent the silencer from getting spun around. Waiting for @IOAOI to clear this up.

Final summary: Excited to see how this thing performs. I'll update this once I have it dialed in and pulling some nice skimmate

Is the o-ring seated? Once you get the threads engaged and screwed on with the o-ring seated it doesn't seem loose anymore.

I took it off after posting this and found no o-ring which I though was odd but figured was by design. Any chance you can take a picture of your tube with the o-ring?

There is no O ring. The sizes of the pipe and the hole are designed perfectly matched, the pipe is not supposed to turn when the knob is rotated. Can you plz check if the two parts in the pics attached are fastened. And then insert pipe into the outlet hole. The pipe should not turn unless you use a lot of strength.

There is no O ring. The sizes of the pipe and the hole are designed perfectly matched, the pipe is not supposed to turn when the knob is rotated. Can you plz check if the two parts in the pics attached are fastened. And then insert pipe into the outlet hole. The pipe should not turn unless you use a lot of strength.

Yep, the 2 pieces are aligned perfectly but it spins without any force applied. I'll record a quick video to show you how easily it turns.
