My planted fresh water tank is over grown. I mainly have java fern. Instead of throwing them, I was wondering if I could give them to my foxface. It would be fresh plants instead of dry nori. Are they poisonous? My mollies constantly rasp them, but do not really eat them. Has anyone tried it?

I know many people feed tangs and foxface terrestrial vegetables, but havent heard of people feeding them aquatic plants. I dont know if any of them are toxic to marine fish but would be interested to find out

my local aquarium feed their fox faces and tangs lettuce, I think this would be safer if you need to do it.

Thank you for your replies, I wish I knew who to ask about it.
I've never heard of someone trying and couldn't find any information on it either unfortunately. I wouldn't chance it and see if you could just swap someone of a LFS for food for your foxface instead to be safe :)

My foxface eats broccoli , cucumber , spinach , Lettuce ,

along with purple seaweed ,
I don’t know about aquatic plants though
Whoa I’ll try those, just recently got one 2 days ago and he doesn’t seem to be interested in the Nori but has picked at algae

I’ve had some over the years that wouldn’t eat anything but flakes or pellets . Others such as the one I have now . Loves anything I put on the veggie clip .
But I think purple seaweed is the favoured including tangs , angels and even my Mel wrasse

funny watching a triggerfish eat seaweed

I think they can be motivated by others in the tank. I just added my magnificent ff from qt to my dt, it have never been shown a nori clip before, but within minutes of seeing my (9) tangs ravaging the seaweed clip it decided to join the feast.
