Hello. I am cycling a new tank and am using Fritz Pro Aquatics Ammonium Chloride to drive the cycle. I was wondering how long do I have to wait before measuring Ammonia levels to verify how much I increased the level as a result of the dose. Dose said 1tsp per 100 gl which is 4 ppm of ammonia, but I went with 1/2 dose to be cautious.

Any advice is much appreciated..

If it's a new, tank you don't really need to be so cautious as there is really nothing in tank to be hurt by ammonia, just follow the directions.

1/2 dose is good, I like using 2ppm ammonia to cycle, unless you plan to add a bunch of fish at once, dosing higher is not necessary. Dr Tims recommends waiting 24 hrs to test, but I have found test are pretty accurate almost right away.

Dr Tims has a good method of dosing that will get you cycled in less than 2 weeks.
