The picture below is a protected area were the Marine Iguanas have laid eggs on mass. The area is within the white posts so people don’t walk over it and Luiz our guide told us about it before we went on the island

Just as a matter of interest although I didn’t see any,(or I would have fled whilst screaming like a little girl! Lol) Fernandina Island is also home to The Fernandina Racer snakes ( Pseudalsophis occidentalis) and this is were the filming for episode 1 of Planet Earth II was made with the snakes chasing the Iguanas

This is the video

YES... I was waiting to see if u got a chance to see the rocky outcrop where the snakes are. What a video sequence they managed to pull off. I cant imagine the prep they must have had to overcome to get that video. Incredible.

We left the Marine Iguanas, for the moment, on the morning of the 21st May 2019 and we continued to walk around Pinta Espinosa on Fernandina Island

Then we came across some more of the locals, who were, well a little sleepy........ and took absolutely no notice of the strange 2 legged things staring at them, going ooo ahhhh

On 21st May 2019 we left the baby sea lion sleeping and continued to walk around Pinta Espinosa on Fernandina Island

Only a few feet away we encountered another handsome fellow who was more than happy to say hello. Well for a while anyway until he got bored of myself and Ben staring at him!

We left the sea lion in peace, and walked a little more, and then encountered a few more of the Marine Iguanas

Although it was still very early in the morning, the sun rising was making the Iguanas much more active

Still in the early morning of 21st May 2019 we left the Marine Iguanas and continued to walk around Pinta Espinosa on Fernandina Island and just a few metres away we met a small family.

And one of them was getting a little hungry........

We’re still early morning on 21st May 2019 on Espinosa on Fernandina Island Galapagos with the Sea Lion family, and eventually ‘junior’ got his breakfast, although mother did seem a little sleepy still.....
