It has the largest caldera in the Galapagos with a 14km ridge within it and dimensions of 7.2 x 9.3km so yes it’s very big. It’s also the shallowest of the Isabela volcanoes at 100m deep. That is a huge caldera.... ;Wideyed;Wideyed
What a great trip Shaun, such a special place. Will you share your favorite place in the Galapagos and a pic?
It was indeed Jan, I still cant believe we did it, and there is much more to come. We are still within the first 2 days in Galapagos. What a great adventure, Shaun.
Beautiful.
The south has the best sunsets
Very cool Shaun ! !
LOL!
If you get chance, just go. The marine life is simply amazing under water (so I’m told as I stayed on the rescue boat! Lol)
Some of the pictures I’ll show you of playful sea lions, penguins, it’s simply wonderful and that’s why I can’t really tell anyone what the highlights were, there were just to many.
And I sit here at home in my chair and think, wow, did I really do that......
The viscosity of the lava must have been mind blowing to watch. Thick honey, much like Hawaiin flows. Black sand beaches. Something mysterious and beautiful about them.At 0530 on 18th May 2019 we departed the boat for the small island of Punta Moreno which is located on the north coast of Isabela Island between the volcano Sierra Negra and Cerro Azul volcano
The terrain was quiet hard to walk on in certain areas and consist of lava flows, but then you will come across a small oasis of a lagoon dotted around
It portrays ‘movement and speed’ of flight..... hark at me! LolNice snap of the pelican mid flight!
