Hi,

Trying to figure out if this is tail rot ... what is odd that the entire fish has this gaggid looking fin all over it. The fish is eating and behaving fine. I also don't see any other fish bothering it at all.

Thanks,
Attila

Can you post a picture of the entire fish?
How long has the fin been like that?
In zebrasoma tangs, head and lateral line erosion can show up as damage to the fins that looks like this. If other fish were biting it, you wouldn’t see those extended fin rays like that.

Yes, that is how is how some species of Zebrasoma show HLLE. Yellow tangs also do this. Black long nose tangs get regular skin pitting HLLE, and purple tangs can get both.
I’ve not been able to reverse this. Avoid using dusty carbon as it could make it worse.
