Appreciate it!Awesome thread. Beautiful tank!
Hey thanks! Yes you could absolutely design a manifold off the main return pump. My reason for running a separate pump is due to the other things beside just the refugium. Ideally you want the refugium return to drain back into the return pump chamber to utilize the pods that will be growing and breeding in the fuge. That said you can do it other ways and it will still be efficient as a nutrient exporter.Hey there love the the build, it was great to read through. I'm waiting to get a waterbox myself ( 100.3 I'm thinking due to space ). I additionally think the idea of the external refugium is a great idea and one that has me thinking too. Just a quick question ... it looks like to you have 2 pumps 1 for the refugium and 1 for the return? Couldn't you have just had an additional manifold that pushed water to the refugium?
Love the build! Did you prep the painted surfaces? What paint/color did you use?
Nice box you got there ;-)Doing my monthly correction with supplements after I get my ICP test back and I had a thought I want to share. Some will say this is a lot of work but honestly for the colors and growth on SpS I’m going for, and already seeing, it’s way less time than water changes bi-monthly takes up. Everyone that has been in the hobby for a while finds what works for them and I can truly say that if you want to be successful in crazy SpS this might just be what you have been looking for. Reef Moonshiners Method will quickly have you drunk on SpS for sure! @PSXerholic has it down to a science, literally. Just go look at tanks that have been following the method for a year or more. I’m only at 4.5 months since I added water and I’m already seeing substantial growth. My last tank was a SpS dominant 90 gallon and I spent twice if not more time on it to get close results in growth but nothing close to the colors and polyp extension. That was after the tank had been up for 2yrs. Just something to think about.
