So, my current 30 watt lesser known brand light doesn't seem to be sufficient to meet the requirements of many SPS corals in the opinion of members of this site I talked to and since I'm definitely no genius when it comes to lighting, I decided to get a Zetlight model ZE8600M (55W) and before I buy it was hoping to have you guys weigh in. The tank is only 20 gallons. Does this light seem sufficient? I can show a picture of the light from the internet to show what I'm talking about.

Unfamiliar with the light but you would need to know the par ratings.

I looked at their website.

They never say if this unit can setup a lighting schedule with internal clocks. Meaning, turn on blues at 10% intensity at 9am and ramp up to 100% by 3pm, then ramp down then off by 9pm.

No talk if violets, blues, greens, reds can all be controlled separately.

They spend way too much marketing on showing off the design of the casing being like a UFO

"Wow man.... I can have a UFO over tank? Awesome dude"

If you like the price point, also look at Noopysche II K7s

Thanks! I've never actually set up a tank piece by piece on my own so I really don't know what to look for (especially now that reef-keeping technology is so advanced). Glad I took the time to get a few opinions before buying something I'd regret! I'll check out the Noopsyche 11 K7s you mentioned and hope they have authentic ones here in Bangkok! Thanks a million!

Noopsyche 11 K7s was recommended to me to check out as well. I'll take a look at the models you listed as well, I just have limited options sometimes where I live.
Thanks by the way!

Not Noopysche 11. It's "ii" as in Roman ii meaning "2". But I believe they're on Version 3 now.

And Dear Lord.... whatever you buy.... its gotta have controllability.

You should be able to control:

1) at least 5 different channels of light ranging from violets to blues to reds to whites ALL SEPARATELY

2) and with the 5 channels make each one ramp up, peak and ramp down on a clock schedule you program in

I'd research a lot more. Find lights you like and watch 20min user reviews on YouTube showing you all the options in controllability and programmability

simple 2 channel lights you control manually using a twist knob is soooo outdated ... its not even funny.

Controllability isn't needed light depending. It's a personal preference. T5 and metal halide are king and have none at all. Black boxes are cheap and only have white and blue. My kessils only have color and intensity. All listed will grow anything. Find lights in your price point that will grow what you want. Even a couple orphek led strips will grow just about anything.

Both you guys sound like you've gathered more than enough knowledge on the subject over the years so I'll almost certainly go for one of the models you guys recommended after a little research...wish I could afford the state of the art lights a lot of people have these days but I"ll get there when I get there. Thanks guys, now I know what to look for first!

These are all about the same exact light. Black box LED made in China and should be available everywhere. They're cheap with no frills. However at 100% they'll put out over 700 par. I ran mine at 20% white and 60% blue. Maxed out they will cook just about everything except carpet nems.

To be honest, I think the intricacy is pretty cool
