hey Vinny at ghl. I have some questions as I want to do a GHL set up on the 300 I am building. I been talking to a few people who reef here in AZ and when I said I was NOT going to do another companies so called system( I am not gonna mention it or bad mouth them, it is just not my choice) they agreed with me and turned me onto GHL. They swear by your stuff. My conversation wit them left me somewhat confused , and not exactly sure what your system can and can't do. They were just telling me how they use your system and how they dose cal,alk and mag but I can't find any info on how your systems does that or what I need to buy. I still have this need to know all it. I want to get this stuff for the 300 display I am building and then a system for the frag co we plan to start.
SO wanting ghl sytem but have questions....I just signed up for your newletter.

GHL manufactures dosers that can dose CA, Mag, etc.



But I think your asking the following:

Tbe KH Director monitors alkalinity, and can adjust your current dosing schedule for alkalinity based on alkalinity levels. For example before the ION I was using tke KH Director to adjust another doser that was dosing 3 parts Aquaforest.

Fast forward been running the ION since Janauary. I use the ION now to adjust my Calcium and Magnesium and Nitrate and the KH adjust now just alkalinity. I have a 4 head additional doser which 3 dosing pumps are controlled by the ION and 1 dosing pump head the KH Director.

You can purchase GHL products as standalone or the requirement to be connected to the ProfiLux controller.

I assume your going to want to control and monitor everything through the controller so you will need a ProfiLux Controller, after that a bunch of other questions about outlets, sensors and so forth PM me if you have specifics and will be happy to help

I am so glad you are able to be a resource for me...there are just to many people I spoke to or meet in person who have their own idea on how to use you products and it makes me a little worried if they telling me the real facts....

A advanced Thank you for your help for planning and helping me put together a GHL system for the 300 new build.
Just so you know my idea is to get KH and ION directors and what ever else I need.

Quick update:

the system has been stable, some algae growing but I like this... means nutrients are present and corals are very happy, KH consumption has been going up, meaning that I'm having strong growth.

The ION Director:

I have been very happy with this, measures are very VERY veryyy stable and matching my salifert kits.

This is a graph showing a one measurep er day during one month.

You can watch two things, I record in the log book when I take algae out of the refuge and you can notice the No3 stops dropping when I take algae out.

Comparing Results:

Salifert
Ca - 430
Mg - 1280

IOND
Ca - 430
Mg - 1279

Potassium seems correct, since I have been dosing K dailly and around early august I ran out of K for a couple of weeks and restarted dosing in the end of august... you can notice the K going down and recover...

No3 also seems very precise, even more precise than my actual droplet tests...

I will be sending water to test ICP and N-DOC so will have more data to compare to.
