By the way, did you travel with the nem or did you have it shipped?

I brought a styrofoam box with me and put them in that in my checked luggage. Sometimes TSA inspects my bags because it looks suspicious, but I’ve only been successful so far!

I am falling in love with this new gig that I bought on an impulse! So far it seems half purple and half blue. It’s doing well in the hospital tank so far, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

I’m always on the search for a beautifully colored magnifica. I found a couple I couldn’t pass up while I was in LA last week. Both are currently in treatment, so I don’t want to jinx it, but here are some crude preliminary photos of their colors.

I haven’t posted in a while, it’s hard to get excited about the hobby when you’ve been struggling with mysterious coral deaths for nearly a year with no major culprit or solution. Yesterday though I may have *possibly* found a smoking fun. I was performing a water change and noticed the magnet holding my PH was slipping a bit. Pulled it off and noticed my hand was covered in black and there were some bumps on the magnet

Needless to say I tossed the magnet immediately, changed 20 gallons, and put new carbon in the reactor. Really really hoping this has been the cause of my most recent coral struggles.

I just had the same problem. All SPS frags would die over a 2 week period. I got rid of the cyano using chemi clean. Now things are back to normal.

Nice nems. How many do you have in a 50 gallon?

I am not sure if carbon takes out the stuff rust leaves behind. To be safe I would probably do a couple large water changes.

Glad you may have found the problem. I hate those magnets for that very reason. They seem to do that more often than not.

How's that purple/blue gig doing? Any new photos?
