I know myself well enough that IF I do make it pretty it won't stay that way long. Lol. I'm always trying to get stuff done and rush rather than take my time and make it a work of art.

I had to vote other since my stand is completely enclosed, it does not even have doors or any openings.

But all of my equipment is out in the open in the fish room.

I'm still working on cable maintenance and a few other things here and there, but it is already an additional focal point that everyone loves to checkout after admiring the tank.

I'm looking for curtains to hang inside my doors!
Don't get me wrong, it looks beautiful... when it's new.
like the ocean, Not every day is bright and sunny. When the Greens and the Browns come to visit or stay you can't windex the inside of the sump. Very pretty to look at. Thanks

I decided to make the cabinet itself a "statement" piece.

It's a modern take on a chinese cabinet and it's all glass.

When the refugium light is on at night, the cabinet shine like a chinese lantern :)

What happens when they get coated with algae and other gunk? If I want to show the sewage treatment plant I just open the doors. I am being a little sarcastic so no offense meant.

I think the glass display door would be great, just means you would need to run LED’s all the time together the look.
just through the build stage of new build, once I got the led’s powered up I though it would good with a glass door where the Apex controller is.
Currently have under tank led’s that also light up the apex and sump led’s.
Considering changing the door on the apex side to show setup.
Both LED’s are connected to apex through door sensors, these come on for 10 minutes after the door opens.

Open Sump, 99% of the time because its fun to play down there. :)

The plywood cover to the left sides under a countertop lip so it can be closed if needed or if small kids are over.
Basically it now just hides the salt buckets to the left.

My tank had a lit, but most of the time it is off. I like the view and during summer it is more easy to keep the tank on the right temperature.

looks awesome. Such a beautiful setup... would look absolutely amazing if you had a custom made ato container. Not of clear acrylic, but white acrylic with a clear viewi window on the front.

Lol its for a 230 gallon definitely no low boy
I have built several stands and I used to build them out of 2x4 and even 2x6. The stand was firm, strong, cheap and can hold a real tank. After wrapping it in cheap plywood, I could barely fit a 10g tank underneath. so much space was lost. Then I went to a pet store to look at their stands. 240g tank held up by flimsy 3/4" mdf. Some 100g tanks were made of 1/2" plywood.

That's when I realized I way over engineered my stands. If the stand is to be painted, they are made of 3/4" baltic birch plywood. Loose tenon joints glued together using titebond 2. Walls are supported using 4/4 stock of beech. However, if the customer wants to stain, I give them their choice of wood and match the wood through out.
