Hey everyone,

I was at @GoldenStateCorals amd saw these two gobies that I couldn’t pass up on, they are really neat looking and are about 1” in length

I did a bit of research on them, and found that they may be a peppermint goby. But I wanted to see what you guys out there think..

They look like they could be ‘Fairy’ Gobies from the Tryssogobius genus however as said above, white light (or even a filter) will work best for IDs.
For example something like this - I’m aware this is a coral it’s just being used as an example :)

I took a picture using a filter . This is the best shot I can get, these guys are fast, and are active at dusk.

Looks like Vanderhorstia flavilineata, the yellow-lined shrimp goby to me. They pair with pistol shrimps (I’m not sure which species they prefer to pair with at the moment, but I’ve seen them sold with Candy Cane pistol shrimp before).

looks like you nailed it,,,, i had a tough time finding the ID. Does'nt seem like a common goby you find in your LFS.

I believe they prefer to pair with Randalli when were on about the species that are common in the hobby.

@GoldenStateCorals is an awesome place, they are expanding the farming area to another 1,100 square feet of frag tanks... they are always bringing in livestock that is unique and rare... If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, this place has a hand picked selection that you wont see anywhere else...

My next purchase may be a copperband butterfly from them,,, they acclimate them to eating frozen, the method they have works, looking forward to it!!

This lagoon tank I have is 3'Lx2'Dx1'H x 3/4" thick acrylic. all the fish and cuc i got in this tank came from @GoldenStateCorals.

skunk cleaner shrimp, 2 yellow lined shrimp gobies, 2.5" tomini tang, pink streak wrasse, assessor, bangai cardinal. I will be adding a pistol shrimp for the gobies soon.

I'm really digging this lagoon style reef... the best part is that the tank Its attached to my sump that is connected to my 100g display tank.

yup, the owner gets really off the wall type fish for nano tanks. They actually have a 400 gallon sps display in the office, and they have a gold assessor in there that is 5 years old.
