I scored a free goni frag at Reefapalooza over the weekend and am wondering if I should keep it on the frag plug glued to a rock or try to separate it from the plug and glue it directly to a rock. Aesthetically I'd prefer to lose the plug but wasn't sure how easily it could be done without harming the goni

Myself, I'd leave it on the plug. It will be easier to relocate (even if glued) should you desire it.
My plan was to glue it to a medium sized rock all for itself (or maybe another colored goni if I get one in the future) so it should still be easy to move around if needed

I'd leave it vs risk damaging the frag. Looks like it will be covered up soon anyway.

+1 to all of the above. Mine started out about 1/4th that size and is now larger than a golf ball and the plug can’t be seen. They like to have things to grow over.

I recently, about 3mos ago bought a red and green goni from my LFS...it was not on a plug at at all, and was moved to the $29.00 and below section of the Coral for sale...they told me it was not on a plug.

No problem. I glued it to a decent size of Coral Rubble and put it close to the live rock. The thing is doing amazing and has new growth already.
