How did you mod it? Did you somehow strain the beads for size?
I've got some of the Red Sea's 225 nylon mesh filter sock modded inside that reactors output fitting.

It has an wide "chamber" inside the fitting that's attached to the side of that reactor.

The screw on fitting's hole, has a much smaller inside diameter.

Does that make sense?

Well,
If you've read the S-400 build thread or tagged along:
I've always swirled 500 ml of Purigen.

We did try the small Reef Octopus bio-pellet reactor, but the Purigen would escape that reactor.

The tinker bug still lives on and I did an mod.

If you look close the tiny beads are packed up top (water pressure) and "all" of the larger beads swirl below.

So far the mod looks good, with no Purigen escaping the main reactor.

If the mod strip's the water too clean, or it's too much trouble to maintain, then it's going to be an no go.

If it's an winner mod, @Reefer Deez will ring my neck... ;Dead

:)

I would never ;) you have helped me so much I have nothing but appreciation for you :) I also know that we are all learning from each other and we will find new ways to keep our tanks clean and nutrients at a level that we need to. Please keep me posted on how it works I would be really happy to keep all the beads in the chamber without having to look several times a day :)
My question is are you afraid that the mesh material will clog like the filter socks do? Or are you planning to change it out weekly or frequently?

Yeah,
It's about half of the mesh sock inside that coupling.

It may clog too fast, but with the tiniest of Purigen beads separated up top, it may not clog the filter too fast, with dirt.

You can take out the mesh sock and rinse it clean real fast.

Deez,
I'll let you know how much trouble the mod is to maintain or if it strips the water too clean.

Thank you! I hope it works good and the way you intend it to! :)

Siggy,

I don't have an fuge.

I run GFO and Purigen reactors.

I hate carbon dosing so GFO and Purigen are two pieces to my puzzle.

Be careful with the Purigen.

Our AC went out this morning and nobody can come out until Thursday.
That's why I always run an chiller.

Yeap, a chiller is mandatory for any reef in my opinion.

Depends were you live. It’s currently about 28c here in the U.K. and my chiller system consists of a large 16” fan pointing over the top of the tank.

The system (sorry fan!) is controlled by me switching it on in a morning if it looks like it might get hot! It’s very effective and easily keeps the temperature under control.

Maybe no good for were you guys are though with the need for air conditioning.

I don't need one up here either or a fan for that matter. My wife keeps the house at 75 during the day for our dogs. And my sump being in the basement which is 68 during the summer helps too. :)

Snap, mine sits on a kitchen chair aimed at the sump! ;)

Welp,
Here's the guts of the ole Kessil a80/T5 hybird.

Counting the extension cords it took 13 cables to run this setup.

If you look ;Wideyed real close you can see where I band sawed and sanded down the 5" heat sinks to 3.75" to fit inside the "original" S-Series canopy's / two bulb mid section.

I kept 8 - T5's in the fixture, but only pushed two.

This was a killer setup, but we've moved on.
