Hi Freddie.
It’s a 2015 LED has it running for 2+ years but where fighting all sorts of nasty stuff, mantis, money algae, aphasia... you name it, I had it!! So a move lead me to break it all down, dry the rocks totally and now want to restart. Really looking into the triton method, as it makes sense for me...
It’s a s-500 white - beautiful!!!!

You'll get her back. Sometimes a reboot is the way to go.

The ones that I know that are on Triton are happy, but most of them use the Triton "Others Method".

I think @justingraham is full blown Triton.

Yep I am full blown triton it has made things simple and works for the way I Reef it’s no for everyone also it gets a little pricy when u bump up to 200 plus gallons no idea what ur tank size is but u have a lot of rock so u might be at that gallon size.

There is a lot of bad press with the milk cartoons and what not but I’ve been lucky and have never not had triton on hand or had a leaky box so I’m happy.

ATI is also like the triton method but it’s like 7x the amount you have to keep and dose.

So as far as I’m concerned it has worked for me and I like it some other triton users hate the milk cartons and the unavailability but they liked the way it worked for them

Every time you get a Triton report back, your reef is spot on.

Not the first two ... they were bad .. heavy metals and whacked out salinity , but it definitely gives you great insight into your water , and I’m looking forward too tritons new N-doc nutrients test .. because I really think that’s where my current problems are !!

The Reef Octopus / Bio-pellet reactor with Purigen / Mod / Update:

Well all is good and the mod is a winner.

As you can see the reactor still has not clogged and all the beads are still in the rector, but we tore it down to show @Reefer Deez

First shot shows the same setup and the reactor is still humming, right along.

And on to the 225 nylon mesh sock inside the reactor's output couplings.

Down pipe ready to re-install

The reason's that we bought the RO reactor was that is is coned shaped at the bottom and we bought it with BRS points.

We didn't not re-charge, but just wanted to show pictures and check the 225 micron filter sock.

As always thanks for tagging along and wish all the best.

That's awesome! I'm so happy the new mod is working so good :) and thank you for taking the time to do the tare down and show me how it works :D You better belive I'm looking into that reactor cause with the original aquamaxx I have to keep the flow down so low or the beads just wash right out into the sock on the discharge end. I tried to cut a sock in a few different ways and haven't been able to control the tiny little beads I also got a few of the pad that came with a vertex reactor and played with them but the beads still get by
Thanks again Freddie! Oh and btw your corals are looking amazing and you've got some really great shots of them :)!!

Why did GoVols retire the Kessil a80/T5 Hydird???

Well,
@HolisticBear already most of the info on that one.

On Thursday evening before I tried out the AP700 the Gyre was making noise from coralline algae build up.

In the past I always soaked it Vinegar and never broke down the Gyre. This time I broke down the Gyre and put it back together.

Well,
The Gyre was set on high flow and I did not mark the output vents. I turned it on and the water was flowing straight down. At that point I should have turned off the Gyre but I did not. I spun it 180 degrees and water shot into Kessil a80 #1.

Friday night the Kessil's would not turn off.

So, pulled out Kessil #1 to try to clean out the contacts. Meanwhile the T5's we're turned off.

All the sudden Kessil a80 #2 fell into the reef and it's lights were on. It burnt "Vader", but I could not see.

I tried to pull out Kessil #2, but one of it's cords was wrapped around the Setosa, but yet again, I could not see.
I pulled out K a80 #2, but the Setosa's live rock tumbled down to the floor.

Now, I'm down two a80's and the reef is a mess.

I could have replaced both a80's, but counting the mod and all the wires I felt like it was just time to let it go.

The a8o/T5 was a great ride, and who would have ever thought that 4 - 15 watt Kessil a80's with two T5's would have done such a great job.

The End

:)

Wow, what a story of calamity! On the plus side, you did not electrocute yourself it seems.

Yeah,
Micheal asked me if I could fell the light's current, but I could not and Vader is healing.

It was really too many wires and I had no room to slide in the plastic clear cover, after I did the mod.

It was like an wake up call.
