I was against the way they removed Fullmer from day 1 and felt you guys kinda deserved what you got. Now that he's back, I would like to see the program succeed under him again.
Agree to the above and putting Fulmer in charge should keep Jimmy penned down.
They loathe each other.

Oh Yeah,
Back flushing the unit:

It should preform an auto back flush every 2.5 hours.

So, I put on an cutoff valve after the DI's output.

When I'm done making RO/DI, I leave the unit running and turn that valve to the off position.

When the unit feels the back pressure from the cutoff valve, the unit will do an auto back flush.

Then, I turn off the unit.

So no one gets confused... there's no BACK in flushing a membrane. You don't reverse the flow direction - if you did you'd ruin the membrane.

Good point. Makes me wonder why we call it a back flush when it is really a membrane bypass.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Copy and paste for BRS's website:

"Reverse Osmosis membrane flush/flow restrictor valves increase the flow to the membrane by bypassing the flow restrictor when the valve is opened. This helps flush deposits and significantly increases the usable life of the RO membrane."

Hey Freddy thanks for the tip when starting a new membrane. I started up my new Vertec. I got it all hooked up and turned on the water and waited...........then it hit me , I have to plug it in the wall! That was different, But yes I am very happy with it, It started around 60 TDS and after 15 minuets it fell to 2 . So this will flush the membrane on its own, so why are some doing hacks?

siggy,

I don't run the unit long enough to kick in the every 2.5 hour auto RO membrane flush.

I did let it flow longer on Friday night and the auto flush kicked in.

If we didn't live in a town home (Limited Space). I would put it a RO/DI holding tank and have a float valve on the output.

So, I just attached an cutoff valve to make it auto flush when I'm done using the Vertex.

Glad your happy!!

:)

Thanks @Fudsey and @GoVols for sharing these vids. First one was done by a local reefer and he will publish the second part anytime soon.
I love both videos and I am glad for all the kind words given by everybody.

Welp,
It's just not the same :( without the S-400's ole (kessil a8o) "mag lights"

a80 #1 is a total loss - ;Cow / a80 #2 is just fine as long as it's at the end of the chain... :)

Phase-1.... of the AP700 / 3 - a80's / with the Red Sea led bar (DIY)... is done.. ;Woot

Hrm... I think you're not gonna be completely happy until you add your T5's back. If you don't get into the 3 A80's, maybe try out a hybrid T5 fixture from aquatic life.

After having that setup for so long, you might have a hard time replacing it with a different setup.
