Fill me in! What is going on there?

Steven,
We go to Gatlinburg every fall as a family, but it started out as an all girls thing, many years back.

We take an head count from all four sides of the family in the spring.
Then lock in on a chalet soon after the head count.

Some come in from Athens GA. so they come in from the Smokey side and we come in from the Knoxville side.

Pretty low key.

We meet up in the ams, and if some want to hit the Smokey's like Clingmans dome or hiking, then that group will head out, others might want to hit Gatlinburg or hang at the chalet.

Then we all meet back in the evenings, cook super / bring out the wine or beer, shoot pool while watching SEC foot, but most want to play Dominoes "Chicken Foot".

Pretty good time and enough to do for about all ages.

Is there anything that peaks your interest in MACNA, this year?

___________________________________________

Might fire up the Abyzz for a min, this evening, so we can see what it can do and check for leaks, before the final install.

That sounds like a great time. My side of the family tries to get together every summer at my mom's lake cabin (been in the family for decades) but I didn't make it this year. They all live in Wisconsin/Minnesota so its easier for them to get together.

It happens to be opening week for the Star Wars exhibit at Disney! :p
Oh.. MACNA. There are a few things. One of the more interesting lectures I want to catch is on coral parasites and diseases. I am also hoping to get some input on the newer 1 and 2 part dosing systems that contain all of the trace elements.
That, and I've never been to any reefing shows so I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of the people from R2R.

Yeah,
My side usually hits my younger sister's lake house (in the summer) at Lake Guntersville, but things just did not line up this year.

Your guys are way up north.

If I only stop for gas and hit drive thru's I can make it in around 15 hours pulling my boat.

I need to get out on the Big G soon. I still have never fished that lake. Sad since I have a boat and am less than an hour away. ;Sorry

A little off topic...
My father was in the hobby since the 1950's and was into breeding live-bearers and he had small tanks everywhere and a custom 100 gallon main (Corner) display the he had made in Canada. He helped me start up my first tank in 1976 when I was 10 years old. If it was not for him then I would have never fell in love with this hobby. This was the last shot I took of his custom corner and was taken in 1987. Sadly it was beyond repair.

Dad.jpg

So in 1995 Oceanic Systems helped me build my 225 gallon dream tank and I wanted to base it off my fathers custom.
Amazingly this tank is still up and running in Florida.
It still saddens myself to this day that Oceanic Systems sold out, to only be totally destroyed by "All-Glass".
Oceanic Systems displayed this tank at a reef show in Chicago and my (lfs) owner saw it there 2 weeks before I got it.

This pretty cool.. Thanks for sharing. Back in the mid 90's I had 125 gallon Oceanic and it was the best. A friend of mine still has it and is up and running today. I wish they were still around

Alright went home for lunch...

The original is a Red Sea Sicce rated at 1,850 gph.
It does have an elbow, because it sits up high and sucks in air.

The Abyzz A100 is rated at 1,880 gph, but up to 2,200 gph in boost mode.

Water line and sump line before I took the Red Sea down, has to run at 100%, it's an AC,

Yep, higher water line and lower sump line, so the Abyzz is pushing more flow.

But.... The Abyzz is only pushing at 57%

The last I heard, was that Custom that Oceanic System did for me in the mid 90's is still running too.

I miss them too.

Have you ever boated out to the "bat cave" on Lake Guntersville, at dusk in the summer?

It's pretty amazing to watch.

Nope, haven't even heard about it. I've only been on the lake a few times and that was in a friends wakeboard boat. It was also years ago.

Thanks, Pancho

Pretty stoked too.

They have an 48 hour break in period, but I can only hear the micro bubbles inside the BK skimmer.

I love it when people give kudos where and when deserved. Seems like everyone is always so ready, willing and able with their gripes but not so free with praise.

He's a wonderful human being, but he moved up within Red Sea and no longer over Red Sea support, international.

But, Kevin sure deserves an shout out, a true friend.

Thanks Rich,

I used the ole Eheim tubing, in the microwave trick, over the weekend.
Alright,
Finally got in the Y connector that I wanted, so lets complete the plumping and bring the GFO reactor back online.

Ever get the Eheim tubing that's just under an 1/2" in diameter an it will not fit? :(
0823171738.jpg

Welp,
I cut it to size, place it in water and microwave it for about 45 seconds.
0823171739.jpg

She'll fit now :)

The final the plumbing and... Yes, a Bubble King skimmer will do the job.
