I purchased 11 Green Chromis on Aug 10th. Everyone is eating well and no signs of stress. I am feeding Reef Frenzy with GC & Focus (plan to feed for 14 days), with Colbalt flakes throughout the day. I have dosed with Copper Power...currently 2.25 on Hanna Checker. I'm on day 7 of 30 day copper treatment. Salinity is 1.018.

One of the 11 Chromis has this issue on his right side ( see photo). I'm afraid is Uronema...it is not getting better. I will give it a few more days...he is doing fine, eating, ect., not not sure what to do.

Question! Do I remove the infected fish or just play this out and see if he/she makes it? Will this spread to the other 10 Chromis? I plan to only add the healthy ones to my DT after the 8 week QT.

Thanks everyone!!

Gilbert

That is most likely Uronema.

I would go ahead and start dosing metronidazole. Dose per instructions, if you are using Metroplex use the higher dosage recommendation.

Definitely uronema. You should treat aggressively. I would remove the fish from
Copper for now and treat with antibiotics.

You should treat all your fish for uronema as they likely have it without as bad symptoms.

Metro is safe to use with copper. I use them together all the time. I prophylactically treat any batch of fish that has an anthias or a chromis/damsel with metro for the 1st 10 days of therapeutic copper.

I will say that the most effective uronema treatment I have use is formalin. 1-2 formalin baths will eliminate uronema in most cases. I usually use RidIch +

Short update. After three weeks of Metroplex (500mg/48hrs) for 20 gal long. I lost 3 of the 11 Chromis and almost every Chromis has some sort of red marking, wound like spot, ect. Not sure what to do next. They seem to be acting fine and eating, but just hate seeing them all slowly start to show some type of disease or open wound. It has been 5 weeks of Copper Power, so I am in the process of removing the copper. Plan to watch them for another week or so to see what they can fight off naturally. If they start to get worse, what should I be ready to do?? Thanks!
