So just 48 hrs of no GFO with minimal feeding once/day of oysterfeast and either frozen cyclopeeze or a little bit of mysis and my po4 went from .003ppm to
.08ppm.

Can't believe it rose that fast. I'll try and test every few days to make sure the trend doesnt get out of hand.

Did you start using gfo and gac after you got balanced?

Never used that stuff in my DT.
I do the NMB method, can't go wrong with that.
Just 4hrs during the night.
I used to do it for a few months with pressurized O2 but my water turn out to clear.
Got this 5 years ago from @Cruz_Arias, he can walk you through the whole system.

OK, So Nano Micro something. Sounds good to me Man !:)
LOL !

So now and then @Michael Paletta calls me and we discuss things, when he found out that I was doing the the NMB he had to try it as well.
He did talked to Cruz and so even Michael went the Bubbling route and with great success.
He even wrote a article about in @reefbuilders for Jake Adams.

Tested again:

Po4 back down to .01ppm
No3 back down to 2ppm

So I added another 2ml of oysterfeast, currently been doing 2ml per day. Also dosed Spectraside to raise no3 back to 4ppm.

2nd day in a row po4 showing 0.

@Diesel - I'll be patient but I cannot see how reduced feeding and 3ml of oysterfeast is sufficient to bring my po4 up.

Pulling the plug on GFO temporarily makes sense. But I feel like I need to feed more?

Quick update. My nutrients range from:

No3 = 2-4 ppm
Po4 = .03 - .05ppm

Still have GFO and GAC offline. I have to drop a ton of Oysterfeast to keep things detectable. Gonna go back to feeding normally to assist also.

Did a deep mechanical clean but didn't siphon sand. Mainly blew things off rock and caught it with my net and filter socks. hopefully things start to look better soon. The green mats are still forming on the bed..I haven't

Also trying to figure out how to get a better microscope pic of my algae. Unless someone can ID this.

Just got this $17 bad boy from Amazon ha.

But either way. I'll keep adding Oysterfeast and testing. Will do my best to keep feeding less.

In Previous posts, PSXerholic was saying that we sometimes feed extra chemicals, etc.

Is there something specifically in Hikari Mysis, Capelin Roe ( SF Bay brand), or Cyclopeeze that is "bad" fuel ?

Even though I'm talkin to myself, gonna keep documenting for future hobbyists.

I've finally reached an inflexion point in my algae levels. 72 hours after the most recent scrubbing, the film algae is not regenerating for the first time ever.

The existing mats on the bed have gone from neon green to a darker brownish green and the burnt tips on my acros aren't regrowing algae every 12 hrs!

I'll test my Po4 and update this later. But had to post with such a good update. Thanks everyone for convincing me to pull GFO and add po4.

I had so many po4 issues in my original tank 4 yrs ago that I've been too heavy on the GFO and GAC since day 1.

Ancient thread is ancient... Did you ever get this issue sorted? Posting some microscope images and a tank shot below. Is this the same kind of slime you had on your sand? If so, can you confirm that increasing PO4 and sorting things out so you have a better ratio of N to P in your tank solved this issue?

Forgot to mention:

1. No UV sterilizer
2. Urchins/snails/conch/tangs pretty much ignore it. Many snails look lethargic
Snails might be starving to death. Feed them.
