Growth on Hermit Crab Shell

Does anybody have an idea what this is on my hermit crab shell? It never moves, but Deffinitly seems to have grown!

The shape of the shell looks right! But wouldn't it move if ut where a limpet? This has been on his shell for months.

Exactly what I thought but certain ones are static. I have several slippers on a giant trochus
