So I just got back from a 5 day trip and returned to find a ton of this hair algae on my LR and sand. I had a timer on my light set to 10 hours on, but since getting back changed this to 7.5hrs on. Tank has been cycling for about 3 weeks now.

Firstly, this in fact hair algae? And what would be the best way to treat this?

I also have a left handed hermit crab (free critter from the live rock) and thought it would eat this type of stuff but doesn't seem to. Any other invertebrate suggestions that would?

Would love any suggestions/tips! Thanks

It looks like hair algae, although it could be bryopsis. Can you get a closer picture of some of the algae with more detail? Where did your live rock come from?

Attached a couple more pictures. I got the live rock from my local aquarium store. They said they receive it dry and then have it in they're tanks for a few months prior to selling it. I didn't treat it before putting it in.

I should also note Ive been using tap water with Prime, but have since invested in an ro di system

Live rock is from a local aquarium store. They receive it dry then run it in their tanks for a few months. I didn't treat it before adding it to mine..

Tried to remove as much as possible from the and today and left the lights off. Stuck pretty good to the rock though
