Has anyone used a DC power supply and distribution board?

Hello everyone. I'm getting ready to build a ULM mixed 80gallon tank. I work in automation so I of course need to put my experience to use on this tank. I'm planning on going just enough automation I don't neglect the tank.

I do however want to save as much room and make it clean as can be when I build it. I was wondering if anyone has thrown out all the power bricks and used a DC power supply with a distribution board? I'm thinking that route to save tons of room. I know the downside is if it goes every thing goes but I'm planning a quality p/s with warning indicators incase of failure along with a back up.

Anyone else try this with success or failure? Thanks!

Its on my list of things to do.
I am an electrical contractor so I have access to transformers.
The only issue I have found so far is some of the equipment I have is 12V other 24V so I will wind up with 2 units.

The better units are bigger so I dont know about space saving.

Oh and make sure you get the right AC or DC unit.
So it is possible to wind up with 4 of them.

We have some smaller but powerful harsh environment 5 12 and -12 vdc all in one powersupply options. Pretty sure that'll cover everything. The one unit maybe bulky buts just one unit vs 15 power bricks.

Something I've thought about if I ever do another build in the future.

For redundancy you could do auctioneered power supplies.

Might want to fuse/breaker the + 24dc going out to different devices, according to the as shipped ps equivalent.
Then maybe the offending device blow a fuse and all else is happy.
Of course if the ps is short circuit protected, it might just shut off before a fuse blows.
One big advantage to this approach is with dc centralized it is easier to setup battery backup.

I'm running a bunch of jebao pumps (24v dc) off a single Mean Well power supply. Way less cluttered, and the mean well is probably much more reliable than any of the cheap wall warts.

The battery back up is a big plus for this design. And ya I was planning circuit protection with warning lights if tripped. Though I wonder if even necessary. I haven't ran into to many short failures in this industry.

I have run this design for a year now. No problems whatever.
