$130 for small yellow tangs. I just bought a yellow eye Kole tang for $120. Figured $120 was better than $300 next week

A small yellow is $120 here in Buffalo. I just bought a yellow eye Kole tang for $120. I figured it was better than $300 next week if it was even still there.

In Oz yellow tangs were $200 BEFORE the ban.. I have one on order but cannot pay any more so a purple might be the other option

$79 don’t buy into the hype. Just like Indo they’ll come back down

Yellow tang was on my stock list.....Saturday, I paid $125 for a medium sized one.....I had him on hold for a week, and the LFS I buy from pre-quarantines....So I didn't think it was a bad price. I'm happy with him. I don't care if the price goes up or down at this point....I paid what I was willing to pay.

Doubled in my area, I'm in Commie-Fornia, just outside sacramento.
You don’t compare the economy of “Commie-Fornia” to other states. You compare it to other nations. You’re welcome. This has nothing to do with CA.

It’s a great fish. One of my favorites. Price is going up. In this hobby, nobody should be griping over tens of dollars. I’m looking forward to increased breeding. When I got in the hobby 20 years ago people were struggling to keep color in sps and breeding clowns. We read books and mags. I think folks should be ramped up. It’s really incredible what the average hobbyists has accomplished. I’m stoked on all the companies that are breeding these tricky fish. We’re going in the direction that I like. No complaints here. Progress.

Saw mediums at the big LA wholesalers for $140 today. That probably equates to $300 - $400 retail around me. I did buy a Potters Angel last week for myself even if it was double normal price, of course I sold it to myself at cost.

I didn't ask but one of my lfs's has probably atleast if not more than 300 yellow tangs in stock. They are probably all under a hundred bucks. When I went in yesterday I did a double take when I saw yellow tang heaven, looked like I was diving a reef in Hawaii!

Last week bought a fat 4 inch yellow tang for $60 at petco. Same day - LFS had small skinny ones for $100 and slightly larger ones for $120

$30 each here last month before the ban...am in Hawaii..now good luck finding one at LFS. Had 2 in my tank and a Kole, Chevron, and flame angel before it crashed right before Thanksgiving due to velvet on an incoming Achilles tang. Now starting over post ban with limited stock of some endemic fish which sucks...unless I go catch them myself or have contacts with a few on island who do for their own tanks and friends.
