Hello and welcome to Reef2Reef.

I'm also in San Francisco, the Twin Peaks area.

You're probably better off posting another thread asking your questions, because this forum is mostly for just saying hello to new users.

Enjoy your new tank!

Welcome to r2r. I’m sorry and sympathize with your struggles. A lot of us have been there. Possible ammonia spike, could be stray voltage from something as well. It’s the hardest thing to figure out

It is possible you had an ammonia spike, or low level of oxygen.
What test kit(s) are you using?
What type of water are you using? (RODI or tap water from faucet)
How were fish acclimated?
What filtration are you using? (basket, skimmer, etc)

Hello everyone, finally decided to post and join the community.I always wanted a saltwater tank but hesitant because of the cost and complication. Finally decided to give it a try, I didn't want to spend too much money on my first tank as i am learning. so I end up buying a used Nano Aquatop Eco 24 gallon AIO tank on craigslist.

Tank Started on June 18, 2020
-Dry Rock
-Dry Sand
-Tank cycled in 90 days with a raw shrimp tail

Equipment:
- Aquatop Eco 24 AIO with Stand
- Biocube skimmer
- Stock Return Pump
- 50W Heater
- Zetlight Aqua Series Led
- Jebao OW 10
- Floss and Sponge
- Chaeto (Chamber 1)
- Chemi pure elite (Chamber 2)
- Bio rings (Chamber 3)

Tank Parameters:
Temperature - 78 degrees
pH – 8.2
Specific Gravity – 1.026
Alkalinity – 8dKH
Ammonia – 0
Nitrite – 0
Nitrate – 20ppm
Calcium – 380ppm
Magnesium – 1150ppm

Corals:
- Kenya tree
- Plusing Xenia
- Green Mushroom frag
- Green Star Polyp
- Green Mushrom Frag
- Green Mushroom Rock
- Mini Maxi Anemones
- Flower Rock Anemoneq

Fish:
- Four strip damsel
- Sergant major damsel
- 2x Blue spot damsel
- Rock Goby
- azure damsel

Within the last two months I lost 3 fish.
All of them don't have sign of ich, body damage or gill damage. It really bothers me not knowing how the tank inhabitants are dying.
Everytime a fish died I check the tank parameters right away and don't seem to have any problems.
If anyone can charm in that would be great.
Thank You all for reading.

I have seachem ammonia alert tag in tank, it always show yellow.
I am using API test kit and Salifert test kit.
I am using 5 stage RODI system
Fish acclimated by temperature flow then 2 hours of drip. Those fish been in my tank for over 2 months.
Using skimmer, chaeto, bio rings, floss and Sponge.

Take this to heart but API kits are some of the worst hence the Low price fr them producing false reading s for many and being that it is also for freshwater- No faith in ammonia badge.
Do this for yourself- Take a good water sample to a trusted LFS and have them test and verify reading to compare with yours.

Ok I think you are right, I should do that. Thanks
