I am a newcomer to R2R. I have been on several forums over the past few years being in the hobby. Reef Central, Reef Buzz, MI reefers, and Nano Reef were the ones I visited the most. This site was suggested to me by the VP of our local club, along with several others. I thought I would check it out. From what I have seen so far, I think I have found a new one to add to the favorite sites folder.
I started in the hobby with a 29g eclipse tank. My FW setup just didn't do the rock and my 6line justice. I started upgrading that tank to get it to a nice mixed reef with a 250w MH, a Tunze nano skimmer, and a cheap HOB filter that I made into a fuge.
After having that tank for around a year, it was time to upgrade. I ended up getting a used 90g with internal overflow and a 40 breeder for a sump. I was hooked. My hobby turned into my obsession like it does with most of us. But my house is small, and with my wife and 3 kids, 1 dog, 1 cat, 1 rabbit, and 1 bearded dragon, 1- 8g sea horse / softie reef,1- 10g mantis / reef tank, the big tank had to go. I was not really wanting to let the 90 go, but I learned so much in reefing with having that tank, that it was a good thing.
Now after getting rid of the 90, tearing down the mantis and sea horse tanks, I have just one 57g mixed reef, with a 20g sump. I run a Vertex IN 80 skimmer, and I am still debating if I want to add a fuge to my sump. I run a mag 5 for a return. I have 1 - K3 with a K4 impeller in it and 1 - K2 with a K3 impeller in it for flow. I run 6 x 39w T5s with 4 of them being on a IC660. For livestock I have 1 pygmy angel, 1 yellow tail damsel, 1 unknown wrasse, and 1 little goby who made it into my sump, and now that will be his new home I think. Not much for a clean up crew. I dose vodka and MB7, giving me results that I like.
I will try to post pics later this week if anyone is interested.
Thanks
Phil
