The lfs told me this was a fungia, I didn't believe him, but was a bargain and was toss in the corner of a tank, so I decided to give him a better home.

2nd I bought it as being a cypnastera, the coral is growing fast and gaining insane colors, what do you guys think?

Not quite sure, but the first reminds me of an Acanthophyllia. Don’t take my word for it, I dont personally keep big LPS. Biggest I have so far would prob be Euphyllias for me.

2nd one does look like a cyphastrea. The fact that you said that it is growing fast cements that its a cyphastrea. Normally we regard cyphastreas as sps.

Actually, the more I look at it. I think the first one might actually be a Fungia. A really misshapen one.

What is driving me off fungia is what appears to be a foot attached to the rock, the coral and the live rock is attached, I have to bring it all together.

Foot attached? I know many lfs where I’m from would actually glue fungia to a frag plug to stop them from running around. Also, although not fungia but a relative of them, Lithophyllon actually encrusts. But looking at what you have, the skeleton looks more like a Fungia than a Lithophyllon.

First one looks like an LPS minus the LP.
If the second one is Cyphastrea, too me, looks troubled as well.
Maybe it’s just the heavy blue pics.
