A 10 footer makes me jealous.
I can not think of anyone local that would have anything that big. The biggest tank I know of locally and have seen is a glass cages tank, and I think it's 10 or 11 feet.

I’m jealous of the idea, ha! Just trying to work out logistics of my options now! :)

I'm trying to get him to go 12. The wall is huge. 9' tall basement. Wall is 25' if you include the part that crosses in front of the stairs. So 12' centered on 19-20 ft

This guy is the best/worst friend ever. So much help and spends/saves so much money.

I agree a 12 footer would be great, Nothing like peer pressure...

Yeah it’s not hard to convince me to take things too far... :D

12 is my vote too. Really, there isn't too much difference between 10 and 12, so mite as well go bigger so you don't regret it later.

Haha thanks! Yeah if we can make it work I’m pretty much there.

Did I read the problem was getting it down the stairs? No patio doors to go through?

Yes, as a glass panel though it would be easier. Kyle (@HotRocks) would have to figure that out. I’m just the muscle. And no, no walk-out basement :/

Update — still keeping options open. Glass is expensive as heck for a 10-12 foot tank.

10.5 foot by 30 inch was 2400 for just glass.

Acrylic estimate was 1250-1500 for 144x30x1”

Waiting on another quote or two. Still open to an already constructed tank for a good deal. If anyone has any advice/sources shout ‘em out!

Sourcing 12 foot plywood is proving difficult as well— they want to sell me an entire skid. Anyone have any ideas?

I’m in Indiana, willing to drive.

Maybe call a couple home construction companies and find out if they buy those large sheets. See if you can buy 1 or 2 from them maybe? Or possibly call a lumber manufacturer direct and see if they will just sell 1 or 2. I'm not sure on either of those options cause I've never done it, but I'm bold and can sound really dumb/helpless on the phone so people tend to want to help lol.

Because we all love a challenge
1. 12' plywood , make your own..lap joint laminate several layers of .25"or .5" baltic birch to a true 1" or 1.25" solids
2. Gel-Coat/fiberglass plywood interior. Your basicly building a boat inside out
3. Hybrid tank acrylic with glass face , Has this ever been done?
4, 8' tank plus a 2' display fuge and plumb together/ My fuge has turned into land of misfit fish

just thinking

The issue I’m finding is affordable front viewing panel glass or acrylic! I like the idea!!
