My blue tang iv had for about 2 months has these white crusty looking spots around its body they dont look like ich but more like salt creep. they're mostly around its belly, it also looks like its fins are rough (that could just be from other fish) im hoping its not velvet.

The main symptom of velvet is rapid breathing (more than 120 gill beats per minute) and swimming into water flow. Secondary to that would be tiny white spots, as the disease worsens. Untreated, velvet kills fish pretty fast - usually within 3 days of the onset of symptoms.

I'm not sure what is going on here with this fish. Are the lesions only on its left side, or are they also on the right side? If on both sides, that implies an external infection. If just on one side, it could be an injury.

I think more background information is in order here. This is a link to some helpful links regarding posting a fish disease problem report:

Is the fish still feeding?
Are any other fish showing symptoms?
Can you post a short video?
