HELP ID: What is this green thing in my cousins tank?

Hello my cousin 40g breeder is doing great but I noticed these green things. Maybe a sponge of some kind?

Killing? I’m not sure what you mean. We feed it a bunch of stuff. Mysis, ghost shrimp, krill, and squid.
