I sent up the tank about 6 months ago, and over the last month, I noticed a lot more brown algae (i thought it was diatoms) but started to notice it get semi stringy and has some bubbles, then noticed it getting on my coral. Could it be dino?

Tank parameters:

PH 8.2
Alk 8
Mag 1350
Calcium 440
Nitrate 5-10
P04 0

if it is dino... can someone help me identify which it is, so I can do a tailored approach to fix. Thanks

G’day, what are you testing your p04 with?

I tested with Salifert and Hanna, both reading zero. Hanna is the phosphate one, not the ULR one. So you guys think it's just bad diatoms and not dino?

I can scrap another part of the tank under a microscope if needed, maybe some with bubbles?

I don’t think it is but you’ll know in a couple of days. It’ll start growing long and stringy

Been like this for about a week or two. In the mean time, i've been treating it as if it is dino, and doing heavier feeding, dosing nitrate/p04 and I cut back the lights to 5 hours a day vs the 10.

Ill try to get better pictures under the microscope of the "bubble" algae part and see.
