Just set up a new Red Sea Reefer 170. I used some old live rock from an old tank and thought that the new setup would help take care of this algae. I’ve always thought it was GHA.. starting to think it is the daunting bryopsis. I’ve been trying to manually remove and to dose vibrant for a few months. Haven’t been having any luck. Which algae do you think this is ?

@vetteguy53081 see for some pictures under white light. I showed to my LFS they think it’s also bryopsis. I’ve got some fluconazole (reef flux). Going to give that a shot in a few days. Will post result pictures daily.. hoping to share insight over this 3 week journey. Wish me luck.

Right now I have a new Red Sea Reefer 170. It’s been up for a month, seeded it from my old fluval 13.5 Got a few softies.. and pair of clowns and chaeto fuge. Hopefully they stay safe!

Also tested some water parameters.. curious to see how they change after treatment.

Nitrate - 0.5ppm
Phosphate - 0.3750ppm
Nitrite - 0.1ppm

Yes- you have bryopsis and under whaite lighting , also green hair algae. Before any treatment, pull out as much as you can by hand to speed up eradication. I also notice in pics, top left and lower right, those little anemones. Those are aptasia anemone and a huge pest. Appears to be few (for now)
Using a syringe, inject either lemon juice or better yet. . Kalkwasser powder into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and inject into the center core of each anemone and they will melt right in front of you.

Sorry for the late reply, finally got time to update y'all. The fluconazole worked like a charm! All the GHA and bryopsis slow disappeared over 2.5 weeks (see pic below for Before and After - this is from Day 0 - Day 17. My corals looking healthier than ever! No fish deaths or coral deaths.. I even added a leather coral during this process.

Dosed 2000mg fluconazole (reef flux) on a Red Sea Reefer 170 (43 gallons total) for 2.5 weeks (no water change, and skimmer off for 3 days (day 1 - day 3).

Going to do some binge coral shopping now :).

Thanks @vetteguy53081 for the help.

You have both hair algae and bryopsis (thicker bladed fern like strands). Ideal would be to remove the rock and scrub it, and then finish with a firm toothbrush. You can also pull as much as you possibly can by hand and then let the cleaner crew get the rest thereafter. Cleaners would be: Chitons, Nerite snails, turbo grazers, cerith snails, emerald crab and Florida blue leg hermits.
