Help one of my clowns have ich

HELP my male clown somehow got ich over night and I moved him into quarantine with my flame angel that I purchased a week ago and is simply in quarantine. The quarantine tank is medicated with cupermine. Should I move the female clown into quarantine as we’ll that way they can stay together as a pair which they are. The female doesn’t have ich but I am afraid that if I separate them for too long the male will also turn female and when I put it back into my display they will fight. What do you think.

I thought so the only thing is I only have a 10 gallon quarantine, I do have a spare 29 and 20 gallon which of those should I upgrade to. This is because my 55 is currently housing 1 small yellow tang, 1 small six line Wrasse, 1 banggai cardinal, 1 clown and I also already have the flame angel and other clown in quarantine. Due to this is should upgrade the quarantine right?

A larger QT would be beneficial. If the goal is to rid the tank of ich, all fish will need to be treated. I would go for the 29 gallon likely depending on the dimensions. With a tang I would say choose the longest tank you have available.

Since you are already treating some fish, it would be best to treat them all at the same time.

Ok so i an going to setup the 29 gallon as a quarantine then. The other fish aren’t showing any symptoms yet but there probably going to become infected down the road. Is it ok if I fill the new 29 gallon quarantine with tank water from the 55 and slowly add copper to it. Will I have to continue feeding the beneficial bacteria in the 55 fish food. I should probably quarantine for 10 weeks right.

Adding water from your 55 will add a small amount of bacteria but not much really so you can use fresh water and add bacteria to that to boost the count and get the system to cycle faster. I always keep a sponge in my sump for times like this. It makes it easy to setup a Hospital or QT tank in an hurry. The 55 should be fine for the time being. you could add a shrimp or a couple cleaners to keep things in check if you don't already have a few. The bacteria counts will continue to grow and adding some extra bacteria into that system before you get ready to add the fish back will also be beneficial. You will have to QT for 76 days.

Ich requires a fallow period of 76 days. Feed the CUC and inverts.

I would use bio-Spira or similar bacteria in a bottle to help control ammonia. Also, keep 5-10g of saltwater mixed at all times in case you need it in a hurry.

I just read this and have to ask if you're 100% it's ich? If you can post a pic we can help you rule out the possibility of other diseases

You can only really see one spot on tail in pic but there are more on the clown pectoral fins and dorsal fins

It's hard to tell from the pic but I think you should do a freshwater dip to rule out the possibility of flukes, if you do have them copper won't work to kill them

I’m sort of scared of freshwater dips tho because I have done then before with success but the last time I did everything was perfect but the dip ended up killing my lemon butterfly fish.

I can understand that. If a fish doesn't survive a freshwater dip it's likely that they wouldn't have survived otherwise, I'm sorry to hear about him

For a clown flukes are a bigger threat than ich. If it was my fish I would do the dip but you need to make the decision
